Is the 2015 Student Textbook a requirement for the Healthcare Provider class and the HeartSaver class?
BLS 2015 Student ManualHeart Saver ManualPer AHA:
Each student must have the current appropriate course textbook readily available for use before, during, and after the course. Textbooks are designed for individual use and are an integral part of the student's education before, during, and after the course. Students may reuse their textbooks during renewals until new science guidelines are published
The failure to meet the AHA materials requirements above are not in compliance with the requirements for issuing course completion cards and the instructor may not issue course cards for courses where this requirement is not met.

Will I be able to use the 2015 Student Textbook for future renewals?
Yes. The new 2015 Guidelines Update marks the beginning of a new era for the AHA Guidelines. They will transition from a 5-year cycle of periodic revisions and updates to a Web-based format that is continuously updated. You can visit www.heart.org/cpr for any updates to course materials.

Can I pick up the book before the class to review the material?
Sure. You can stop by the location where the class is being held and pick up the textbook. Or, you can choose the e-book option when purchasing the material and you will be able to download it to your electronic device immediately.

Can I buy the book on my own?
Sure. Just make sure you are purchasing the correct one and bring it to class.

What if I'm just renewing my card, do I still need to take the full course?
Yes. The current courses teach the new science guidelines that were released in 2015. AHA will release renewal course materials in 2017.

I need a First Aid Class in addition to a CPR class, can I take them both on the same day?
You will complete Part 1 of First Aid at www.onlineaha.org and then I can complete Part 2&3 with you either before or after the CPR class you register for, if my schedule allows. Contact me before you register for CPR to see if I can get you in for the Blended Learning Skills.

Are there different First Aid Classes?
Yes, there is Pediatric First Aid, which is the one you need if you work in childcare, and there is the Heartsaver (adult) First Aid, which is for anyone needing First Aid as part of a job requirement.

How can I tell if I have one of the current Student Manuals? It should look like one of these:   [+] CLICK TO ENLARGE

UPDATED MATERIAL WILL BE RELEASED SOON.

I keep trying to reach someone in the office, but it always goes to voicemail, what should I do? You should leave a voicemail. My office phone is set to go straight to voicemail. So, if you need to reach me, please leave me a message and I will call you back, usually within 24 -36 hours. For the quickest response, please text Cindy 219-865-5596

I want to register for a class on the calendar, but I'm not sure if it's full, should I call to check if there's room before I sign up? If a class is full, it will be marked FULL on the calendar. So, unless you see FULL, there are spots available, go ahead and register on the website.

What time should I arrive at class? You should arrive 5-15 minutes before start of class to get signed in. Class time starts promptly at time stated and late arrivals (after class has begun) will be considered a 'no show' and will not be able to attend class. American Heart Association requires that to received a certification you must attend the entire class.
