Can I still get a paper card or is AHA only issuing Electronic Cards?

As of April 2018, the American Heart Association has made the switch to electronic cards (e-cards).  There are no more paper cards.  You will receive information on how to access your e-card when you register for the class.  You will be able to access your e-card the same day after you successfully complete the class.

What if I'm just renewing my card, do I still need to take the full course?
You can choose the Blended Learning option if you are a renewal. There is not a significant difference between either attending class or doing the Blended Learning.
The biggest difference is where the majority of the class takes place. With Online Learning you watch online videos and complete tasks online in order to receive a certificate of completion. Once you complete the online portion of the class you schedule a skills session at our office. There you complete skills necessary for the class you are taking in front of an American Heart Association instructor. You then receive your card. Your card looks no different than the cards we give students who sit in class.

Will there be a textbook available for me to use during the class?
Yes.

Can I purchase my own book prior to coming to the class so that I can review the material?
Yes, there are 3 ways you can do this:

1) Let us know when you register for the class that you would like to stop by and purchase a book prior to the class. We will need 72 hours notice to have your book ready for pick up. Healthcare Provider book $18/Heartsaver book $6.

2) Product numbers are supplied (see below) so that students are able to search out books via online resources to purchase on your own.

I need a First Aid Class in addition to a CPR class, can I take them both on the same day?   
You will complete Part 1 of First Aid at www.onlineaha.org and then I can complete Part 2&3 with you either before or after the CPR class you register for, if my schedule allows. Contact me before you register for CPR to see if I can get you in for the Blended Learning Skills.
 

Are there different First Aid Classes? 
Yes, there is Pediatric First Aid, which is the one you need if you work in childcare, and there is the Heartsaver (adult) First Aid, which is for anyone needing First Aid as part of a job requirement.

I keep trying to reach someone in the office, but it always goes to voicemail, what should I do? You should leave a voicemail. My office phone is set to go straight to voicemail. I want to register for a class on the calendar, but I'm not sure if it's full, should I call to check if there's room before I sign up? If a class is full, it will be marked FULL on the calendar. So, unless you see FULL, there are spots available, go ahead and register on the website.


What time should I arrive at class? You should arrive 5-15 minutes before start of class to get signed in. Class time starts promptly at time stated and late arrivals (after class has begun) will be considered a 'no show' and will not be able to attend class. American Heart Association requires that to received a certification you must attend the entire class.
